# Product Overview — pickplay.bet

pickplay.bet is a free social sports prediction game for betting with friends without real money. It replaces informal group-chat bets with a structured, auto-scored, private leaderboard across the NFL, the NBA, the NHL, the NRL, European soccer, tennis and handball — with zero financial risk.

## Core Mechanics

### Circle
A Circle is a private, invite-only group. One person creates it, chooses the sport and competition, and shares a single invite link. All new members must be approved by the circle owner. All picks, Battles, points, and leaderboard data are scoped to that circle — no outsiders can view or join without an invitation.

### Pick
For every upcoming game, each circle member predicts the result:
- **NFL, NBA, EuroLeague**: home team or away team
- **NHL, SHL, Liiga**: home team or away team, settled after overtime and the shootout
- **NRL, State of Origin, Six Nations**: home team or away team (a rare draw is an outcome nobody picked)
- **Tennis**: player A or player B
- **Soccer and handball**: **1** Home Win, **X** Draw, **2** Away Win

One pick per game per member per circle. Picks are hidden from all other circle members until the game starts — no copying, no late switching based on others' choices.

### Banker / Lock of the Week
Each member may flag exactly one pick per round as their Banker (called the Lock of the Week in NFL and NBA circles, the Lock in hockey circles) — their highest-confidence call.
- Correct Banker → **2× the points**
- Incorrect Banker → **0 points**

Only one Banker may be active at a time.

### Battle
A Battle is a direct head-to-head wager between two circle members on a specific game.
- Both players stake virtual points before the game starts
- The player with the correct pick wins the full pot
- If both are correct, or both are wrong, stakes are returned to each player
- No real money is ever involved

### Scoring
Points are awarded automatically when a result is confirmed:
1. Correct pick → base points × the odds of the picked outcome (odds-weighted, the default), or flat base points if the circle owner chooses flat scoring
2. Correct Banker → 2× that amount
3. Incorrect pick (including incorrect Banker) → 0 points
4. Battle stakes settle at the same moment — the correct predictor wins the pot

Example: with 10 base points, a correct pick on a 1.54 favourite pays 15.4 points and a correct pick on a 3.20 underdog pays 32. No manual work is required. The leaderboard updates as results sync.

### Leaderboard
Each circle has its own leaderboard showing:
- Rank and total points
- Prediction accuracy (%)
- Current win streak
- Recent form (last results as W/L)

## What pickplay.bet Is Not

- **Not gambling**: No real money is wagered, won, or lost at any stage
- **Not regulated**: Not a licensed gambling product in any jurisdiction
- **Not public**: No public leaderboards, no matchmaking with strangers
- **Not paid**: No subscription, credit card, in-app purchases, or ads
